DON’T MISS OUT ON THE GOVERNMENT FREE BOILER SCHEME

The Government Free Boiler Scheme

Have you heard about the Government free boiler scheme?  If you haven’t, then listen up!  Under this amazing scheme, you may be entitled to a new boiler free of charge.

It may sound too good to be true, but thousands of people have already benefitted from this scheme and there really is no catch.  Despite the saying that “if it’s too good to be true it probably is”, this scheme really is as good as it sounds.

Do you have an old gas boiler fitted in your home?  Is it working efficiently?  If it was fitted some time ago you may be eligible for a free gas boiler.  Although you may not know exactly how efficient your gas boiler is, the fact that it makes strange shuddering noises and rattles is a clear indication of its lack of efficiency.

Under the government free boiler scheme people who meet specific criteria such as being on low incomes or benefits can apply for a new boiler to be fitted in their homes free of change.   The boilers are of the condensing type and are made by well-known manufacturers such Baxi, Ideal and Worcester.

Are Condensing Boilers Energy Efficient?

The new condensing boilers are far more efficient than older boiler designs.  This means that to produce the same amount of heat, far less energy is required.   In fact, if you are one of those lucky enough to receive a free boiler under the government free boiler scheme you may also notice a significant decrease in your gas bill.    In practical terms, this means that your yearly gas bills will decrease by up to £600.  Given the ever rising cost of fuel, this is a significant saving.

Who can carry out the Boiler Fitting?

Part of the conditions of government funded free boiler scheme those fitting the boilers must be a qualified “Gas Safe” heating engineer.   This has replaced the previous Corgi scheme.  All Gas Safe engineers must comply with the standards specified in UK law.   Any installer who fits a boiler must carry a “Gas Safe” badge to show that he is a qualified heating engineer.

If you still have any doubts typing the gas engineers ID number into the Gas Safe Register will verify whether or not the person is registered.  The Gas Safe Register is the official list of all gas engineers who are registered to work safely and legally on boilers.  If anyone is not listed on there don’t trust them with your appliances.

Another bonus of the Government free boiler scheme, the boiler, comes with a two year warranty so you won’t have to worry about having to fund any boiler repairs for the foreseeable future.
